Our team
Our team is talent-dense and growing quickly. Our founding team has 10 IOI gold medals and includes leaders and builders who have worked at the cutting edge of applied AI at companies like Cursor, Scale AI, Lunchclub, Modal, Google DeepMind, Waymo, and Nuro. Today, we’re home to 130+ former founders and operators who’ve scaled some of the world’s defining companies.
Meet a few of the people behind Devin.

“I joined Cognition when we were ten people. My introduction to the company was a phone call in the middle of the night telling me to go to an apartment in Manhattan.
I introduced myself, and we moved directly into the question we still ask every new hire on their first day:
What have you shipped today?

“Calvin suggested Cognition could acquire my company – and that the team I would join was full of former founders. Today, 130+ people across the company are former founders.
That got my attention.

“We’d love to have you join the team. Can we meet right now?” I thought being at the airport at 11 PM meant we’d just talk the next day, but I thought wrong. He showed up to SFO’s Terminal 3 to extend the offer to me in person.
Is this what working at Cognition is like?

“What the hell were Tubular Bells? I had no idea, but this group seemed to know an astonishing amount about everything.
A few questions later, RSA numbers came up, and Eric Lu casually mentioned he had been factoring numbers as a hobby for a decade.

“What makes Cognition Cognition is that everyone seems to have some unexpected thing they’re ridiculously good at.
For me, that means recruiting the world’s best researchers with the same tactics I used to convince Christian Bale to play my father in a movie.

“Today, 98% of code at Cognition is committed by Devin. But beyond shipping product features, Devin does it all.
My favorite use case is #devindash, where the team uses Devin in Slack to request DoorDash orders to the office.

“Cognition told me they wanted to build the best coffee program in the world.
I’d spent years learning all these different sides of coffee, and suddenly, I had the chance to put them together.
